The couple were recently confirmed to have split after the TV presenter revealed she had not been spending much time with the celebrity chef.
Addressing the news on Sunday afternoon, Fern shared on social media: "Hello. Thank you so much for all your kind messages. They are so appreciated. More than you know. The kindness of strangers is overwhelming."
The mother-of-four issued a further statement on Wednesday that read: "After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children. We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thank you for your continued kindness and support."
Phil shared the same message on his own Twitter page. Both of the stars were met with an outpouring of support from fans, family and celebrity pals alike.
