The actress and singer said her vows just days before Christmas in an intimate back garden ceremony at their Los Angeles home before jetting off to South Africa on safari.
Gushing about the experience to People magazine, the bride said it was everything she could have wished for.
"Its been such a high. It was the best wedding ever," Hilary told the publication.
"We had so much fun. We just kept saying, 'That was the best day of our lives!' We did the coolest things on our honeymoon. We both had never been on safari and it was what everyone says it is. There are no words. We saw the big five (rhino, lion, tiger, elephant, buffalo) within the first two days! I felt so lucky."
Hilary shares daughter Banks Violet Blair, aged one, with Matthew as well as seven year-old Luca Cruz Comrie from a previous marriage.
