The criminal justice activist, who was famously exonerated in the murder case of her roommate, announced her engagement over a year ago. The happy news came after an elaborate science fiction inspired proposal.
The wedding date is now set for early next year, however reports have emerged that the couple applied for a marriage licence shortly after their November proposal. Rumours of wedding bells made headlines, prompting the pair to release a statement: "We filed paperwork to be legally married in December of last year to simplify our taxes and insurance. But we have not yet celebrated our wedding with our loved ones," it said. "This is, frankly, no one's business but our own, and should be no more shocking than the fact that we've been living together for years."
They noted that the wedding will take place on 29 February 2020.
