Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara are engaged.

According to US Weekly, 'The Joker' star is set to marry 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' actress following the proposal which came three years after they began dating.

Rumours of an engagement first circled the pair back in May when Rooney was spotted wearing a huge diamond sparkler, but the pair have went to great lengths not to be photographed together.


It became clear just how serious the relationship was when the actress moved to Los Angeles. An insider told Grazia magazine at the time: "Rooney is smitten and she has broken her vow to never live in LA in order to be closer to Joaquin. All of her friends knew it was serious as soon as that happened because she's always hated LA."
