The reality star couple welcomed Gunner almost two years ago. In a recent interview, Spencer told Us Weekly magazine his wife was intensely attached to the tot when they began filming 'The Hills: New Beginnings', a reboot of the popular MTV show.
The 35-year-old said: "When we started filming, Heidi was a very, very intense-attachment parent. I'm sure some would say extreme, but to me it was just being a super mom.
"She had not left Gunner even for five seconds for, like, almost a year to that point. That was a major adjustment and process for her. To be honest, if it wasn't for 'The Hills', I don't know if she would have ever left Gunner's side."
And the reality show gave Heidi the opportunity to set boundaries between herself and her son, the proud dad explained.
The star has been open about her emotional journey as a new mum, revealing on Instagram last year that she was a "total mess" on her son's first birthday.
