America Ferrera Claims That Motherhood Has Made Her "More Powerful"

Actress America Ferrera has claimed that motherhood has made her "more powerful and capable and amazing".

Best known for starring in the main role of Betty Suarez from comedy TV Show 'Ugly Betty', the actress has a nine-month-old son called Sebastian with husband Ryan Piers Williams.

Whilst promoting 'How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World', for which she voices the character of Astrid, she opened up in an interview with Entertainment Tonight about life as a new mother. She said: "I feel awesome. I feel like motherhood makes me feel all the more powerful and capable and amazing."

She also said that having a circle of friends who also have children has helped significantly with the experience of motherhood. She explained: "Personally, my girlfriends who are also mothers are my saving grace. Like, I reach out to them all the time to say, 'How do you deal with this? How did you do this? How did you get back to work? How did you deal?''"

While she credits her friends and fellow mothers for being her "saving grace", she also admits that she trusts her own decisions too: "Without them, I wouldn't know what to do. That said, everyone and their mother has advice for you and you really do, at a certain point, have to use it for what it's good for, and then let it go and trust your instincts."
