The couple both announced their engagement on Friday 15 February via Instagram. Katy posted a picture of herself and Orlando looking loved up with her unique engagement ring on display with the caption "Full Bloom".
He shared the same image with the caption "Lifetimes".
Following the romantic proposal which took place at a Valentine's Day party on Thursday, the singer returned to work at American Idol, for which she is a judge. The show's host, Ryan Seacrest, said it was "beautiful" to see her so happy.
Speaking on his radio show 'Live with Kelly and Ryan', which he co-hosts with Kelly Ripa, he said: "She's so happy. It was actually really beautiful to see her the next day so happy and beaming, so congratulations."
He also mentioned that their promo shoot for American Idol on Valentine's Day was cut short but now realises that "Orlando had this whole evening planned out ... she went from 'Idol' and then a few hours later, we saw the post up on Instagram."
Despite the couple's recent engagement, they are apparently wanting to start a family as soon as possible. A close source to the couple recently disclosed: "Katy is slowing down her career this year. They want to get married and start a family sooner rather than later. They both want kids together and will prioritise this."
