Hollyoaks Star Jimmy Essex Engaged

Hollyoaks actor Jimmy Essex has got engaged to his partner of six years.

Best known for playing Adam Donovan in the Channel 4 soap, the star took to Instagram to announce that his long-term boyfriend Charles had popped the question while they were on holiday in Sri Lanka.


On Monday 21 January he shared a snap of them both with the caption: "So…this happened", along with a ring symbol.

The musician also addressed the news on social media, writing: "Six years and counting…he said yes! Engagement party pending."

Adding to his Instagram story on Tuesday, Charles shared another picture of the newly engaged couple and wrote: "Couldn't be happier."

The news prompted an outpouring of love and joy from fans and acting colleagues.

Fellow Hollyoaks star Tamara Wall sent her congratulations and added: "Best thing ever!!!"
