Call For More LGBT Representation In Marvel Movies

Marvel Executive Victoria Alonso, who is openly gay, has spoken out about the lack of LGBT+ representation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Of the 20 films that have debuted since 2008, none have featured visible LGBT+ characters.

Victoria, who is Latin, told the BBC that she doesn't feel her own community has been represented well enough.

"I'm Latin, I can tell you that I'm longing for that," she said.

"The gay community has not been represented whatsoever. We are determined to have everyone in our films in some way, at some point in time."

The filmmaker added that including diverse characters proves difficult as they only make a few movies a year, but said "it is definitely one of the things that we have in our minds all the time".
