"I got slightly confused by this story. You have found someone who is 53, yep, I am 53, born in 1965, I was born in 1965, been married before and with kids, another box ticked.
"Handsome, wealthy, successful, big passion for London football club…I was reading all this and thinking God she's come out!"
Piers also tried to take credit for Steve and Susanna getting together, and joked that US President Donald Trump was the catalyst for the pair's romance, as they met in New York, along with piers, a day after Mr Trump became President.
His comments follow recent speculation that Steve and Susanna started dating two months ago after bonding over their love of the team.
