The Grey's Anatomy star posted a series of pictures of one-year-old Paloma who was born with the chromosonal disorder, emphasising the importance of the language of Down Syndrome and celebrating the "beautiful" differences of children with the condition.
"Parents dont have a 1 in 700 'RISK' of having a baby with Down Syndrome. They have a 1 in 700 CHANCE.
"Just like they have a 50 percent chance of having a girl and a 50 percent chance of having a boy."
Caterina finished the heartfelt post by reminding her followers that "Differences are beautiful. Language changes how people think. Words are important."
Since welcoming Paloma who is her second daughter in November 2016, the actress has been a voice of support on social media and an advocate for appreciating the beauty of children with Down Syndrome.
She has also called for more public research funding for the chromosonal disorder.
