HeartUnions week aims to promote and celebrate the positive work and role of trade unions in the workplace.
Throughout this week across England and Wales, trade unions affiliated with the TUC will host events and activities highlighting the vital voice and support trade unions give to workers.
As part of the HeartUnions week this year, the TUC is highlighting its campaign for fair pay for all public servants and continues to support the RCM's Fair Pay Overdue campaign.
RCM Director for Policy, Employment Relations and Communications, Jon Skewes, said: "The RCM, just like the TUC, will continue its campaign for Fair Pay Overdue until midwives, MSWs and all NHS workers are given the pay rise they have earned and deserve.
"For over seven years public sector wages have been unjustly held down and the average midwives pay has lost over £6000 in value since 2010. The pay claim that the RCM has submitted to the NHS Pay Review Body on behalf of our members is a very fair claim. We are not asking for an extraordinary amount of money, it is a request for fair pay that makes up for years of what are effectively pay cuts.
"All we are asking for is for midwives, MSWs and the whole NHS team to be treated fairly for the incredible job they do every day."
