The singer and actress spoke with Billboard about the couple's relationship, as well that her relationship with another former partner, The Weeknd.
Selena and Justin had an on-off relationship since 2010. Then, last year, following the couple's separation, Selena dated rapper The Weeknd. The couple dated for 10 months before it was revealed recently that they had ended their romance. Within the past couple of weeks, photographs emerged of Selena and Justin together, sparking speculation that the young couple were giving their relationship another go.
Now, Gomez has said of the pair reuniting: "I'm 25. I'm not 18, or 19, or 20. I cherish people who have really impacted my life.
"So, maybe before, it could have been forcing something that wasn't right. But that doesn't mean caring for someone ever goes away."
Referring to her recent split with The Weeknd, she went on to say: "Something that I'm really proud of is that there's such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd].
"I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me."
The pair no longer follow each other on social media, while The Weeknd has deleted every post from his Instagram account that featured Selena.
