In August, the government started a Baby Box scheme with 20,000 having since registered to receive a box. Already, 10,000 new parents have received their boxes which contain essential items which aim to tackle inequality and promote health.
Baby Boxes aim to give children the best start in life; they provide a safe sleeping space, contain practical items for new parents, and builds links between families and health professionals.
Minister for Childcare and Early Years, Mark McDonald, said: "I want every child born in Scotland to have the best start in life and the Baby Box is a key part of that.
"It is great to see so many new and expectant parents receiving and registering for their boxes. The feedback we have had so far is very positive and we will continue to work with parents to ensure the contents of the box meet their needs."
To sign up for a Baby Box, parents should speak to their midwife. Further information about what is included in the box, as well as how to use some of the items, can be found here.
