The pair have been friends and work colleagues for a number of years, but in a new interview with Attitude magazine, the 46-year-old opened up about how she has "always loved" Cowell.
She is quoted as saying: "I suppose our relationship changed from being quite flirty and fun with each other, to settling down with people we are both in love with, but still having that flirty, nice behaviour.
"We are too involved with other people for it to ever be anything [romantic], but I have always loved him because he's really good at not giving you b*******."
Amanda has been married to Chris Hughes since 2008 and the couple have two children together, daughters Lexi and Hollie.
Cowell, meanwhile, is a father to three-year-old son Eric with his partner Lauren Silverman.
