Wayne Rooney is reported to have given his wife an ultimatum in an attempt to save their marriage.
Last week, the footballer was arrested and charged with drink driving. It was later revealed that the 31-year-old was driving the car of 29-year-old office work Laura Simpson, who he had met earlier on the night of his arrest.
Ms Simpson later told the media that she and Wayne had "kissed and cuddled" and that they were allegedly on the way home when he was arrested.
Wayne's wife Coleen was on holiday at the time of the incident but has since flown home and is said to have confronted her partner over the claims.
However, according to The Sun, it is the footballer who has issued an ultimatum for the couple's nine-year marriage, as opposed to Coleen.
A source is quoted by the newspaper as saying: "He's pointed the finger at her over the number of holidays she takes and she raised questions about his nights out with the lads.
"Coleen's still furious with Wayne and is threatening all sorts. Wayne's just hoping she'll calm down.
"He's told her he is willing to stop going out if that means she will stay with him. But he hasn't totally held back himself."
Earlier this week, 'friends' of Coleen's were quoted in the press as saying she had forgiven her husband over his recent night out, but she later took to social media to question the claims.
She wrote: "Would love to meet all these so called friends of mine who know me so well…
"I was being sarcastic towards all these great sources the press have... who I have probably never met in my life! I have the best friends."
Colleen and Wayne have been together since they were 16, and have been married for nine years. They have three children together; sons Kai, seven, Klay, four, and 18-month-old Kit. Last month, she announced that she was pregnant with the couple's fourth child.
