Sir David Attenborough Admits Family Regrets

Sir David Attenborough has said that he regrets not spending more time with his children when they were growing up.

Speaking to the Radio Times, the 91-year-old admitted his television work had taken him away from his family for months at a time.

He is quoted as saying: "If you have a child of six or eight and you miss three months of his or her life, it's irreplaceable. You miss something. Perhaps you can't have your cake and eat it."

He added, however, that his late wife Jane, who died in 1997, was very "understanding" when it came to his work.
