The twins – one boy and one girl – were born on Tuesday morning and have been named Alexander and Ella.
Rosenfield added that the babies are "happy, healthy and doing fine", before joking that "George is sedated and should recover in a few days."
Clooney, 56, married 39-year-old human rights lawyer Amal in Venice in 2014. The twins are the couple's first children.
