Maternity staff welcomed Cathy Warwick, Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Chief Executive, to officially open the pool. Service users were also in attendance.
Caroline Diamond, lead midwife for maternity inpatients, said: "The use of water as pain relief during labour and birth has been found to be very effective, resulting in less use of pain relief and providing a positive experience for our mothers.
"We are delighted with the new facility and that we can now offer mothers a wider choice in terms of how they labour and deliver."
