The research, by EliteSingles, found that many men will go to extreme lengths in order to impress a new partner, and include embarking on a vegan diet, pretending to hate football, and giving up swearing.
Other steps men take to try and impress their other half include not breaking wind (at least not when their partner is around), trimmed their body hair, watched entire episodes of Strictly Come Dancing or the X Factor, pretended to be interested in politics, and started going to the gym.
Some admitted they liked cats, some wrote poetry and others got a tan, enrolled in yoga sessions or started cycling to work.

However, for one in seven men, they said that doing something to impress their partner at the start of a relationship has come back to haunt them, while a third said that women make as much effort as they do at the beginning of a new romance. Interestingly, four in 10 admit females make more effort than they do.
A spokesperson for EliteSingles is quoted as saying: "While it's hard not to change our behaviour to some extent to accommodate our other half, honesty, of course, is always the best policy."
