The human rights lawyer, who is married to Hollywood actor George, has been subject to pregnancy rumours for a number of weeks but the news has now been confirmed by some of those close to the couple.
CBS's The Talk host Julie Chen said the pair were expecting a boy and girl, due in June of this year, but actor Matt Damon has also said that the news is true.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Canada, he revealed: "They're going to be awesome parents. Those kids are lucky.
"I was working with him last fall and he pulled me aside on set and I almost started crying. I was so happy for him. And I was like, 'How far along is she?' And he goes, 'Eight weeks'.
"I said, 'Are you out of your mind? Don't tell anybody else! Don't you know the 12-week rule?' Of course he doesn't. I was like, 'just shut up, man'."
George and Amal tied the knot in Venice in 2014.
