Millennials 'Choose Travel Over Romance'

A majority of millennials are planning to spend more time travelling this year, as opposed to looking for love or spending time with their family, a new survey has revealed.

The research, commissioned by sunshine.co.uk, asked almost 2,400 millennials – those aged between 18 and 34 – as to their priorities for 2017. When asked to list their top three priorities for the year ahead, 58% said they planned to work less.

This was closely followed by more travelling (52%), while finding love came third in the list with 41%. Starting a family (20%), save money (8%) and make more friends (5%) also featured on the list.

However, of those who took part in the poll, just 2% said that spending more time with their family was one of their main priorities for 2017. A further 1% said they hoped to get married.

Commenting on the statistics, Sue Anderson, sunshine.co.uk, said: "Millennials are certainly not a work-shy bunch, but it seems that many are running out of steam and hungry for a break away. You'd expect us to say this, of course, but travel should be a priority for everyone.

"We're all guilty of getting stuck in a routine and bogged down by the mundane parts of our lives, but getting out there and seeing more of the world is a sure fire way to give you a new lease of life."
