In September 2016, Jolie announced that she had filed for divorce from the actor and numerous allegations have been made regarding the reasons for the couple's separation in the media. However, the former pair are understood to have signed agreements to keep court documents in their custody battle sealed. Their divorce proceedings will remain private in order to protect their children's privacy.
In a statement obtained by the DailyMail.com, the couple said: "The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues."
The statement concluded: "The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recover and reunification."
Pitt, 53, and 41-year-old Jolie were together for 12 years, but only married for two. They have six children together; Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
