The singer made the comments in a recent interview with Mr Porter's The Journal, where he admitted that the couple were planning on having a larger family.
He is quoted as saying: "It's a beautiful thing. We want to have a few more hopefully. Three or four. We'll play it by ear though."
The pair welcomed their first child, Luna, earlier this year and they have previously said that they had to turn to IVF in order to conceive.
Legend added: "We figured eventually we'd have to go into the doctor and see why it wasn't happening naturally.
"You know, sometimes it's just harder for some people than for others. We're just happy that we were able to do it with our doctor.
"He's never really told us that there was something specific that he could identify was the reason why it just didn't work out naturally. We did what we had to do."
Teigen, 31, and 37-year-old Legend dated for four years before the singer proposed in December 2011. The couple married in September 2013. They welcomed a daughter named Luna in April 2016.
