According to Heat magazine, a source is quoted as saying: "They broke up ages ago, and have been living apart. They had to do promotion for this new movie The Bleeder that they're both in, and decided that they'd keep the split a secret until the press interviews – which were finished recently – were all done.
"The fact that Brad and Angelina also split made the timing even more perfect, because they could try to slide it under the radar."
Watts and Schreiber released a statement last month saying that the "best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple". The pair, who were together for 11 years but never marries, have two children together; sons Alexander, 10, and eight-year-old Samuel.
