Speaking to Closer, the 53-year-old said the decision to do so comes after she recently revealed she had lost so much weight, that she can now wear size 6 dresses.
The actress had initially taken to Twitter to share her weight-loss news, but she has now admitted just how emotional the moment was for her.
She told the magazine: "When I tried on a size 6 dress last week and looked in the mirror, I couldn't help it, I just cried. I was so shocked and happy. I couldn't keep it in."
She added that her new-found body confidence is what has pushed her and her partner to renew their vows.
She explained: "We're planning on renewing our vows next year and I've already been looking at dresses. I've always had the dream of being the perfect bride, so I thought; 'Why not do it again?' I'm 54 next year and I'm the youngest I've ever felt."
Malone and her husband, who is 34, have been married since August 2010. They have one child together; two-year-old daughter Flame. Malone is also a mother to Dannielle, born in 1982, from a previous relationship.
