The actor and his wife, Hannah, became first-time parents in June to a baby girl named Iris.
Redmayne, 34, told HELLO! online: "Well, it's only seven weeks in, but it's amazing. It's wonderful. All of the stuff you've heard for years, it's all true but utterly extraordinary."
The actor and his family are currently in Rio de Janeiro having been invited to attend this year's Olympic Games by Omega. The watch brand is one of the event's sponsors and the actor is one of their ambassadors.
He added: "I've never been to South America. The notion of coming to Brazil and Rio was extraordinary, and the idea of bringing Iris on her first trip abroad to the Olympics in Brazil was too much of an extraordinary opportunity to turn down."
Eddie and Hannah married in December 2014.
