The Good Charlotte singer made the comments in an interview with People magazine.
The 37-year-old said that life "can't get much better" right now, due in part, to his "incredible" other half.
He told the publication: "There are moments where you feel like life is perfect, and you want to stay in that moment forever, and that's how we feel: really blessed and lucky.
"I give my wife a lot of credit. She's an incredible partner and really supportive."
Madden, whose father walked out on him and his brother when they were both teenagers, added: "When you grow up in a broken home, there's something about finally finding love and security in your family. We're grateful for our families and the love we have in our lives.
"Coming from nothing and working and building something, we all feel extremely lucky to have the career we have, to have the families we have."
Madden started dating Richie in December 2006. They have two children together, Harlow, eight, and six-year-old Sparrow. The couple were engaged in February 2010 and married in December of that year.
Madden's brother, Benji, married actress Cameron Diaz in January 2015.
