Melanie Sykes has admitted that she married the wrong person when she tied the knot with Jack Cockings.
The couple met via Twitter and following a whirlwind one-year romance, tied the knot in May 2013. However, just seven months later, the couple separated. Their split came just a few weeks after Sykes, 45, was arrested and cautioned for assaulting 29-year-old Cockings. The common assault caution was later removed from police records.
Despite separating in 2013, the couple's divorce was only finalised last month, and speaking to The Sun's Fabulous magazine, she admitted: "The divorce was the easy bit. [The hard bit was] being married to the wrong person.
"It's always difficult to break up with somebody, but it's been for the best and I knew it at the time and that's why we're not together."
Sykes was previously married to Daniel Caltagirone for eight years. They have two sons together; sons Roman and Valentino.
