Nikki Sanderson has hit out at claims that she is a home wrecker.
The actress has been blamed for breaking up the short marriage of Greg Whitehurst earlier this year. She has always denied the allegations, and has once again criticised those who say she is to blame.
In July 2015, Whitehurst tied the knot with his wife Sarah at Combermere Abbey in Cheshire. Sanderson, 32, was a guest at the couple's wedding, having known Whitehurst for a number of years. However, in January of this year it was revealed that the newlyweds relationship had broken up – and Sanderson was now dating Whitehurst. There is, however, nothing to suggest that Sanderson had any involvement in the split.
At the time, the former Coronation Street actress issued a statement saying: "I have known Greg and his family for many years. Greg's marriage ended in January, it was a very difficult time for him during which all of his friends and family supported him.
"We have started recently dating and its early days, so we are not rushing into anything but are both enjoying each other's company."
Now, she has once again defended her romance. In an interview with OK! magazine, she said: "He's [Greg] been blamed for something he didn't do. The papers made out that I was the third party who split them up, but in reality there was a third party who split them up on the other side. It ended through no fault of Greg's."
Her boyfriend added: "It's done and dusted now, but the marriage ended straight away when I found out. I want to clear our names."
"Whenever we're pictured together or I post a picture of us, I'm labelled a 'home-wrecking w***e' and a 'husband stealer'. People say: 'Well, I wouldn't want to be her mate because she'd steal my boyfriend.' I'd never do anything like that," Sanderson stressed.
