On Thursday, Connelly reportedly told The Sun newspaper that she and Joshua had exchanged numbers after having met at a boxing event. However, she then said she was disappointed to discover that the 26-year-old had fathered a child with his on-off girlfriend Nicole Osbourne.
Connelly is quoted by the publication as saying: "We swapped numbers – well, he asked for my number... When I found out he had a baby I felt like he'd cheated on me."
However, Joshua has now hit out at the claims.
Friends of the boxer have told the MailOnline: "He literally has no idea who she is. He gets asked for pictures by fans all the time. Anthony doesn't watch TV, so he wasn't aware she is on Geordie Shore."
A representative also added: "Anthony is 100% not dating Chantelle Connelly from Geordie Shore."
Connelly herself has since taken to Twitter to address the reports – and argue that the rumours are untrue. She told her followers: "Let's jus say I've never said I dated @anthonyfjoshua or out else. Papers asked who was my celebrity crush n I said him! #howtheytwistthings (sic)."
She followed this with an expletive-filled tweet in which she advised people not to believe everything they read in the papers.
