West Midlands Police have since appealed for information.
The incident occured at around 3.25pm on Saturday, 02 April.
A black Vauxhall Astra collided with a red Ford Fiesta in Eastfield Road, Bordesley Green. The driver of the Astra fled the scene on foot.
The driver of the Fiesta was a woman who was eight weeks pregnant. She has since suffered a miscarriage as a result of the crash.
Two young children were also inside the vehicle, and left with injuries. A two-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries and required surgery. A four-year-old boy suffered minor injuries in the incident.
PC John Slater, from the West Midlands Police traffic collision investigation unit, said: "Tragically the woman was in the early stages of pregnancy at the time and as a result of the collision suffered a miscarriage.
"I would like to hear form anyone who may have seen the crash to call police on 101, I would also ask that the driver does the right thing and makes contact with the police."
