The 29-year-old was at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday to receive the award for services to boxing. He was joined at the ceremony by his parents Flo and Craig, as well as boxing coach Billy McKee. Frampton's wife, Christine, remained at home to look after the couple's young children, and commenting on the ceremony, the unified world super bantamweight champion admits he was just as nervous receiving the award as he was on his wedding day.
He is quoted by the Belfast Telegraph as saying: "I was very, very nervous. I am not usually that nervous. I like to think that I'm pretty cool in high-pressured situations, but I haven't felt nerves like that since my wedding day. I was worried about saying something wrong or stupid."
He was then asked how his wife would react, to which he said: "She might laugh. I hope she laughs anyway and doesn't take it the wrong way."
