Scotland's Top Baby Names Revealed

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) has revealed the most popular baby names in Scotland for 2015. The publication also includes the most popular surnames for 2015.

Jack was found to be the most popular name for baby boys, with Emily taking the top spot for girls.

It is the eighth consecutive year that Jack has topped the boys' list, and the second consecutive year for Emily. The other names in the two 'Top 10' lists are similar to the 'Top 100s' lists of baby names published on 17 December last year. The only differences are a few minor changes in the rankings.

The three top surnames in the Birth, Marriage and Death registers for 2015 – counting only the baby for births, both parties for marriages, and only the deceased for deaths – were Smith, Brown and Wilson.
