Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini has reportedly hit out at his estranged wife's new romance with Liam Payne.
Over the weekend, it was reported that JB's former wife, Cheryl, was in a relationship with the One Direction singer after the pair shared a cosy selfie of themselves together. The image was quickly deleted and replaced with one of Cheryl by herself, but a man's arm is still visible around her shoulder.
While many have speculated that Cheryl has moved on from her marriage, her husband is now said to have criticised the new romance, labelling it as a "stunt".
A friend of the French restauranteur is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: "What could be better for Cheryl's career? An unknown Frenchman as her husband or a boyband star ten years her junior?
"He [JB] really hoped they could salvage the marriage but now feels insulted and humiliated."
Cheryl's new romance comes almost a year after JB's father died.
Cheryl, 32, and Jean-Bernard tied the knot in a small ceremony in Mustique in the Caribbean in July 2014 – just three months after they allegedly met at the Cannes Film Festival.
Speculation regarding the couple's marriage has been mounting in recent months after the couple were last spotted together in public in October 2015. In January 2016, it was claimed the singer had filed for divorce from her husband, citing "unreasonable behaviour".
Cheryl was previously married to footballer Ashley Cole. They separated in 2010, after Cole was found to have been unfaithful during their four-year marriage.
