Michael, who is a former Olympic swimmer, and his wife issued a joint statement regarding their relationship. According to news.com.au, management for the couple said: "It is with much respect for each other that Michael and Lindy Klim have agreed to formally separate, believing that this decision is best for their family.
"Michael and Lindy's children will always remain their highest priority, and their happiness will be Michael and Lindy's primary focus. We ask that you respect their privacy at this time."
The announcement comes just weeks after Lindy hinted that the couple's marriage was on rocky ground as their respective work commitments were keeping them from spending any time together.
Michael and Lindy tied the knot in 2006. They have three children together; Stella, 10, Rocco, seven, and four-year-old Frankie.
