The 10,000 BC star was appearing on ITV's Loose Women chat show on Friday when he popped the question to his very surprised partner.
Evans was talking about his time on 10,000 BC – a social experiment show, which challenged people to return to the Stone Age and live like their ancestors did – and admitted that he had separated from his girlfriend Tasha before the show began. However, he said doing the challenge made him realise how much he loved her.
He told the panel: "You get isolated, taken away from your family and friends, and then you realise what you miss the most. I had an epiphany."
He then said the couple were back together, but that his girlfriend wanted him to ask her out properly.
"We are back together," he said. "But she keeps saying I need to ask her out and she's still single. After eight years, I never thought you had to ask someone out again."
The panel encouraged Evans that now was the perfect time to do so, but he decided to surprise Tasha by proposing instead. Getting down on one knee, he asked Tasha to marry him. She said yes.
