The Take That singer revealed the news via Twitter on Friday, 15 January.
In a short message to his followers, the 47-year-old wrote: "Bowie Taylan Donald came into this world on Tues 12th Jan. Mummy and daddy suffering sleep deprivation but life is wonderful. He is divine."
Bowie was born two days after legendary singer David Bowie died, following a battle with cancer.
The singer – and his wife – were quickly inundated with congratulatory messages, with many praising the couple for the choice of name for their son.
The pair, who celebrated their first wedding anniversary earlier this month, announced their baby news in August 2015. It is the couple's first child together.
Howard is also a father to Grace, 16, and 10-year-old Lola from previous relationships.
