The actor made the comments during an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, which airs on ITV this Saturday, 16 January.
Sir Michael, 82, tied the knot with actress Shakira Caine, 68, in 1973.
He told the host: "I have been married for 43 years. I take a line from Groucho Marx, who said: 'It feels just like yesterday, and you know what an awful day yesterday was.' It was not like that with me. My marriage is fabulous.
"The secret of a good marriage is two bathrooms. You never want to share a bathroom with a woman or you end up with a little corner for your shaving things and stuff. I am older than she is, and I need more space."
Sir Michael was previously married to actress Patricia Haines from 1955 and 1962. The couple have one child together, a daughter named Dominique who was born in 1956.
The actor and his wife Shakira also have one child together, a daughter named Natasha, who was born in 1973.
