The pair both appeared on ITV's This Morning to discuss their time on the reality television show which ended on Sunday night, and hosts Holly Willoughby and Ben Shepherd were quick to quiz the pair on their alleged romance.
The claims come after McCann and Shelley became close in the jungle, even going on a 'first date' together. However, the pair have said the relationship has been blown out of proportion as they are just really good friends.
McCann, 25, explained: "We got so close in there [the jungle] and we were the youngest two people in camp and it was inevitable we would get on. I have skipped the fancy stage. I love him and we just get on very much as friends. I'm going really red!"
Shelley, 22, added: "We have said it's like being out in a pressure cooker with the whole situation in the jungle. We obviously get on and have a connection. I think we are looking forward to seeing what happens."
Despite some claiming the pair are just carrying out a 'showmance', though, McCann explained: "Everyone keeps saying this must be a showmance but it's the complete opposite of a showmance. What me and George have is genuine. We have a fantastic friendship."
