The burglary occurred at a property on Fall Lane, Liversedge, on Wednesday 28 October, at some time between 7.15am and 7.15pm. The thieves stole a holdall and safe from the house. Jewellery was inside the stolen items.
Among the items taken were a wedding band, an emerald and diamond ring, claw set ring, cluster ring and a gold cased wristwatch. Police have said the items belonged to the victim's mother, who had recently died.
PC Vicky Foley, Kirklees Burglary Team, said: "We are appealing for witnesses to this offence and would particularly like to speak to anyone who has been offered this jewellery for sale.
"It belonged to the victim's mother who passed away recently so is obviously of tremendous sentimental value to him.
"Anyone who has information is asked to contact myself at Kirklees Burglary Team 3 on 101 referencing crime number 13150439660. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

West Yorkshire Police has issued an appeal for information after a number of pieces of jewellery were stolen from a recently bereaved family.The burglary occurred at a property on Fall Lane, Liversedge, on Wednesday 28 October, at some time between 7.15am and 7.15pm.
