Ireland Same-Sex Marriage Bill Signed Into Law

Ireland's Marriage Bill 2015 has been signed into law by the country's Presidental Commission, the officer of Irish President, Michael D Higgins has said.

The Bill, which legalises gay marriage, was given presidential endorsement last week when it passed its final stage in the Seanad.

It is expected that the first same-sex weddings will take in mid-November.

In May 2014, Ireland beame the first country in the world to endorse same-sex marriage by popular vote, by a majority vote of 62.1%.
