Since March 2014, a total of 15,098 same-sex couples had legally married.
Of these, 7,366 were marriages, while the remaining 7,732 were for civil partnerships that had been converted into a marriage.
The statistics also revealed that between 2013 and 2014, the number of couples opting to enter into a civil partnership fell by 70%.
August 2014 was said to be the most popular month to tie the know, with 844 ceremonies; while 55% of marriages were found to be between female couples (45% male couples), with the average age being 37 and 40, respectively.
While England and Wales legalised same-sex marriage shortly after midnight on 29 March last year, Scotland legalised the convention in December 2014. In May 2015, Ireland voted to legalise same-sex marriage in a referendum. Northern Ireland is currently the only region in the UK were same-sex marriage has not been legalised.

Over 15,000 Same-Sex Marriages Since UK Law Change
More than 15,000 same-sex marriages have taken place in England and Wales since it was made legal, according to official figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS).Since March 2014, a total of 15,098 same-sex couples had legally married.
