TOWIE star James Argent has admitted he lied to his girlfriend Lydia Bright as to his whereabouts, and thereby jeopardising the couple's relationship once again.
The pair, who have dated on and off over the last seven years, were the subject of separation rumours earlier this week after Bright unfollowed her partner on Twitter. On Wednesday night's episode of ITVBe's reality television show, 'Arg' admitted to his co-stars Tommy Mallet and Jake Hall that he had lied to Lydia as to his whereabouts one evening – and his girlfriend found out.
However, he insists that it was an innocent mistake.
The 27-year-old explained that he had been at Fran and Diags' house one evening and had told his girlfriend that he would be staying at his mum's house that night. However, he then changed his mind and decided to stay at Diags' house – but didn't inform Lydia. She was then angry because she was kept 'out of the loop'. Arg, who has previously gone AWOL, admitted: "I text Lydia to say I was watching a film with Fran and Diags and I would probably go and stay with my mum.
"But a couple of hours later I was tired and Fran and Diags said I could stay. So I ended up staying. But in her eyes, I told her I was staying at my mum's so I lied.
"You know what Lydia is like, when she is really angry and upset you don't want to be near her. I can see where she is coming from. After everything we've been through over the years, it will ring alarm bells."
Mallet then advised him to "just tell her what you're doing."
Fran and Diags also confirmed Arg's story about his whereabouts on the evening in question, but it is not clear as to whether Arg and Bright are still in a relationship.
