Law enforcement told TMZ that her body was found on Monday night.
Sources also told TMZ that Cathriona left a suicide note addressed to Jim following their split on 24 September.
She is believed to have died from a drugs overdose.
The pair began dating for a few months in 2012. However they rekindled their romance in May this year.
In a statement Jim said: "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona.
"She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.
"My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
