More Preschoolers Now Use Tablet Computers – Study

A new study has revealed that more preschoolers in the UK are using tablet computers and mobile phones.

Conducted by Childwise, its 'Monitor Preschool Report 2015', found that 73% of the UK's preschoolers – that is, children under the age of give – are using tablet computers and phones. Since 2012, this is an increase of 46%. In addition to the surge of usage, more than a quarter of these children now own their own computer or tablet, while half have use of a mobile phone.

The use of apps by preschoolers has also increased, with more than half using apps regularly.

Elsewhere, the study found that a majority of children are now using tablets by the age of two, with universal usage just two years later. An average session on a device is also said to be around 1.5 hours.

Similarly, the average amount of time preschoolers spend watching television has also risen, to more than two-and-a-half hours each day.
