Avril Lavigne has confirmed she and her husband, Chad Kroeger, have separated.
The 30-year-old announced the news on her Instagram account on Wednesday.
Sharing an image of the couple on their wedding day, she wrote: "It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments.
"We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support."
Lavigne and Kroeger, 40, started dating in July 2012, after they had been working in the studio together on Lavigne's latest album. The couple announced their engagement the following month. They married in July 2013 at the Château de La Napoule, a reconstructed medieval castle in the South of France.
