The couple, who have two children together, are thought to have separated six months ago, but details are only starting to emerge.
According to Us Weekly, the pair decided to go their separate ways following arguments over Fox's acting career.
One source is quoted by the publication as saying: "Megan has separated from Brian. They decided it six months ago."
Another insider added that things had been "rocky" between the couple, with a source claiming: "They fight about her career."
Fox, 29, has been busy filming a number of projects lately, including the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
In addition, some have alleged that the actress's fierce independence was something her husband struggled to accept.
"She has gone off and done her own thing recently," a friend is quoted as saying.
Fox and Austin Green, 42, started dating in 2004 after meeting on the set of Hope & Faith. They became engaged in November 2006, and tied the knot in a private ceremony in June 2010. The couple have two children together; sons Noah, born in September 2012, and Bodhi, born in February 2014.
