The 33-year-old revealed she was single on Twitter.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Sarah and Jason wanted to give it a go but knew it wasn't working. The split was completely amicable.
"Jason is a really successful businessman so he is away all the time as it is. Then Sarah got the part in Corrie which meant she had to spend a lot of time in Manchester. In the end they both knew it was right to call it a day. That same spark wasn't there."
The pair had been dating for eight months.
