The pair began dating a year ago however they are believed to have broken up around two weeks ago, The Sun reports.
A source told the publication: "Rita and Ricky found it difficult to continue their relationship due to their ongoing work commitments.
"They both tried to make it work but their schedules made it difficult. They are on two different sides of the Atlantic and Rita is going to be based in the UK for the next five months."
Rita's new role as a judge of the X Factor is believed to have affected the relationship.
The source continued: "Rita is also juggling a very successful music career and is gearing up to release her second album. They've always had a very on-off relationship but friends of the pair say that this time it is for good.
"Rita has been very upset that things didn’t work out with Ricky but has been throwing herself into her work to keep her mind off it."
